I am Annette Endruschat and one of my passions is helping people to use a foreign language in practice to communicate with the population of a country. I have lived in the Netherlands for more than half of my life. Before coming to the Netherlands, I studied French and English at the University of Heidelberg with the goal of becoming an interpreter. When I started studying in the Netherlands I switched to German and French as foreign languages. I taught languages at secondary schools in the French and the Dutch education system for many years. My students were children, young people and adults with multiple mother tongue backgrounds including English, French, Dutch and Italian. During that period, I successfully finished my studies in Utrecht and got a degree in Master SEN (Special Educational Needs). My special interest and big challenge was identifying the best way to assist dyslexic and special needs students that are learning a foreign language. Having the knowledge of a Master SEN enables me to find an appropriate way for anyone who wants to learn a foreign language - and most importantly, a way that matches the interests of the student. I also teach Dutch to non-native speakers. This combination of languages and teaching skills has made me even more motivated for teaching. I love the challenge of getting students to like communicating in a language which is not their mother tongue. As a final point, I believe that grammar shouldn't be an obstacle in communication. During my lessons, grammar, in combination with the other aspects of learning a language, is introduced gradually and practically, always tailored to the needs of the student.
